Occupy Provo, in concert with the Utah Valley University Revolutionary Students Union, marched Saturday to protest the National Defense Authorization Act and the Enemy Expatriation Act (H.R. 3166).

Among other things, the current NDAA, signed into law by President Obama on Dec. 31, 2011, affirms the president's authority to indefinitely detain persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism and imposes new economic sanctions against Iran, which Occupy Provo says pushes the U.S. closer toward a military conflict.

The EAA would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to allow the U.S. government to take away the citizenship of any American it identifies as engaging in or supporting hostilities against the United States.

Occupy Provo said in a news release that Saturday's protest was meant to "express our adamant opposition to these acts, holding that they pose deep threats to our civil liberties." The group marched from the Provo Courthouse to the Provo Federal Building.
