Scattered rain and snow showers which began Wednesday morning was expected to continue into early Thursday throughout northern Utah.

However, the National Weather Service predicted that snowfall accumulation, especially in the region's valleys, would be negligible with daytime high temperatures in the mid-40s.

Southern Utah, meanwhile, was expected to remain dry under mostly cloudy skies with high temperatures in the 50s to low-60s.

The Utah Avalanche Center issued "orange" or considerable risk ratings for potentially dangerous snow slides for all of the state's mountain slopes.

Air quality statewide earned "green," or satisfactory grades from the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.

Salt Lake City expected a high temperature on Thursday of 45 degrees, after Wednesday's forecast for 44 degrees; Ogden looked for 42 degrees both days; Provo 47 and 46; Logan 41 and 40; Duchesne 41 and 40; Wendover 45 and 43; Cedar City 46 and 47; St. George 63 and 61; and Moab 50 and 46 degrees.
