Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and members of the SECURE Strike Force earned a gold record on Thursday, but not for their singing ability it was for their help putting a stop to pirated music.
The Recording Industry Association of America presented the honorary gold records because of the number of arrests and seizures of about $700,000 worth of pirated music within the past year and a half.
"These pirated discs represent lost jobs for businesses and lost taxes for state coffers," Shurtleff said in a news release.
Agents seized pirated music from five counties along the Wasatch Front and also arrested 14 people from Salt Lake and Weber counties.
