Memphis, Tenn. — Official postgame quotes following the Jazz's 98-88 win against the Grizlies on Sunday.JAZZ FORWARD PAUL MILLSAP (16 POINTS, 8 REBOUNDS)On the win:We're continuing to get better. This is a game we really needed and especially starting this week off. This is how we need to play the rest of the time." On Gordon Hayward:He gives us another playmaker. Gordon Hayward can shoot, pass, dribble and he's using all his strengths to help our team. Me and Al (Jefferson) get the ball so much, there's only so much we can do down low, so he spaces things out and helps us out a lot." On starting a back-to-back-to-back:This is our first back-to-back-to-back and this is a good win for us. We're going to need all the confidence and momentum we can get, especially for that third game. Tomorrow is going to be a little easier than the third (game), and if we can keep our confidence level up and continue to play basketball like we did tonight, we'll be all right." JAZZ GUARD RAJA BELL (10 POINTS, 1 ASSIST)On the win:I think we came out and we found that energy that we had had for awhile and that's how it started. People were aggressive, like controlled aggressive. We were moving the ball and there were times when people were getting double-teamed, and the ball swung around the perimeter, and we found an open look. When we combine playing smart with that energy level that we need to have, we're pretty good." On team depth:We've played all year like that, by committee, by shift almost like a hockey squad. We bring in two or three different line-ups and it's been good for us, especially in situations where you're playing three (games) in a row, you've got to rely heavily on your bench and it can't be to just hold the fort down, they go in there against that second unit and we expect them to push the lead and they did that." JAZZ HEAD COACH TYRONE CORBIN:On Al Jefferson:I don't know if it was a statement game, but it was a great game for us. He did a great job of sticking within what we do. We always put the ball in his hands to make plays and I thought he made some great passes tonight. At the end of the first half, he could have passed it. He tried to force a shot then. But I thought in the second half, he did a great job of just making the right plays. When he had one-on-one situations he would go on to score and when they double teamed him, he made a great pass to his teammates. It was great." On Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors:We're counting on them to grow together. It's going to take a little while for them to get used to each other, different team, different size advantages of where they can take advantage of guys rotating, but Derrick (Favors) and Enes (Kanter) did a great job tonight of just reading the situation, and came off low on a couple quick passes to attack the basket, but they got to continue to work. Those two young guys are learning a lot and we have to play them, so they're making the most of their minutes to get on the floor." GRIZZLIES GUARD TONY ALLEN (12 POINTS, 6 ASSISTS)On the loss:I don't think we played all of the possessions out on the defensive end. That teams plays until the shot clock has two (seconds) left. That pretty much was the game. We beat them in rebounding. We just couldn't get a stop as a unit down the stretch."On the Grizzlies:"Believe it or not, I think we play our best basketball when we're down. It seems like we have more of a sense of urgency. Tonight, they were the better team because they were getting to the 50/50 balls. They were getting deflected. They either dove for it or they were running hard to it. Whatever the case may be, they won the 50/50 game tonight."On Gordon Hayward:He had a good game."On playing the Rockets Tuesday:"We have the Rockets, and have to be ready to compete. We have to give a better effort for 48 minutes."GRIZZLIES FORWARD RUDY GAY (22 POINTS, 6 REBOUNDS)On the loss:"Today was something we shouldn't be doing this season. This is basically our problem. We should be finishing these games like we're supposed to – closeouts anything, we didn't have any of that finish. It's a lot of things, basically effort and going out there with a certain amount of will offensively and defensively. We haven't done that. We need to pick it up when we're down. Good teams can't do that all of the time."On Gordon Hayward:He got out there. It seemed like he was the one that was benefiting off of all of our mistakes. If there is a hustle play, he goes out there every night. He's tough and a lot of people on this team can learn from that."GRIZZLIES HEAD COACH LIONEL HOLLINSOn the fourth quarter: We were down 81- 76. We had a fast break, we blew the ball out of bounds, we had two free throws and we missed those. From there the dam broke, the flood started and that's what happened in the fourth quarter. To put it bluntly, we didn't guard and execute offensively." On the scoring:We don't make shots. If we don't make shots, we can't score, no matter how good we play defense. We held them to 22 points, and we were down 22 to 10 at one point. It's simple if we start making shots and get some transition—get some offensive rebounds. We couldn't even score on offensive rebounds tonight. We had 18 offensive rebounds and we scored 10 points. In order to play this game, you have to score."On second chance opportunities:They had 13 (offensive rebounds) and they had 18 points on them, but the key was they scored 30 points on our 19 turnovers, which is not us. We couldn't take advantage of their turnovers, so we have to be better on transition. We have to be better on the glass. Even though it looks like we came out ahead on the glass, when you shoot 31 percent for most of the game, then you should get more offensive rebounds, which is what we did when we started making buckets. But not enough, and we just went back and forth. The Salt Lake TribuneTwitter: @tribjazz
