The House gave final passage Thursday to a bill that would let police impound the vehicles of motorists caught driving with suspended or revoked licenses.
SB50 passed 72-0. It goes to Gov. Gary Herbert for his signature.
The sponsor, Senate President Michael Waddoups, R-Taylorsville, previously said he thought that already was allowed, but anti-DUI groups pointed out to him that it is not and many who lose their licenses do so because of drunken driving.
Waddoups noted that he began taking interest in DUI bills almost 10 years ago, when his wife was hit by a drunken driver. The bill passed the House on its consent calendar after only 10 seconds of debate.
