In Oscar prognostication, 19 out of 24 is a pretty good score if The Cricket does say so himself.
The Cricket missed predicting Meryl Streep finally winning her third Oscar, for "The Iron Lady." He didn't see Robert Richardson's win for cinematography for "Hugo," or the deserved Film Editing nod for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." And he biffed it completely in the documentary categories, by being too cynical (on missing the short "Saving Face") or not cynical enough (for not picking the inspirational "Undefeated").
The Cricket got these 19 categories right: Picture, actor, supporting actor, supporting actress, director, animated feature, foreign-language film, original screenplay, adapted screenplay, art direction, costume design, original song, original score, make-up, sound editing, sound mixing, visual effects, animated short, live-action short.
