I-80 crash killed Heber City teen, injured four others

The Utah Highway Patrol has identified a girl who was killed and four others injured in a one-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 40 near its junction with Interstate 80.

UHP Corporal Todd Johnson said Mula Er, 14, of Heber City,was dead at the scene of the 4:05 p.m. Monday accident just northeast of Park City. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time the 2000 Saturn sedan she was riding in veered off the road to the right, crashed into a culvert and rolled onto its top.

Another female passenger, Me Htwe, of Heber City, age unknown, remained in critical condition Tuesday night at University Hospital in Salt Lake City, as was a male, Hsar Kpaw Doh, of Heber City, age unknown. W.T. Htoo, of Heber City, also age unknown, was in fair condition.

The driver, Tar Eh, age unknown, and also of Heber City, was in serious condition. UHP said Eh was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation, Johnson said but added excessive speed for the area may have been a factor.
