Six homes were evacuated for a few hours Thursday morning in a Layton after a natural-gas line break.
A boring crew was preparing a site near 800 West and 2350 North about 10:45 a.m. when they struck a 2-inch gas line, said Layton Fire Department spokesman Doug Bitton.
The leak was difficult to contain because the line was struck at a point where five feeder lines converge, Bitton said. Gas escaped into the storm drain system.
In addition to the evacuations, power and gas was cut to 11 homes. Responders contained the leak about 2 p.m., Bitton said.
