Provo police are looking for the people who disassembled a stolen Honda Civic along a city street Thursday morning.
Police Sgt. Mathew Siufanua said witnesses in the area of 715 North 1050 West told police they woke up about 3:50 a.m. when they heard noises coming from outside their bedroom window and spotted several people next to a Honda Civic that they were taking apart.
Police said the vehicle was missing both front fenders, its front bumper, both front marker lights and its doors. When the thieves realized they had been discovered, Siufanua said they left in a silver, older-model minivan.
Siufanua said police determined the thieves had apparently stolen the vehicle from a neighboring home and driven to the street to take it apart.
Officers said Thursday morning's incident marked the ninth vehicle that's been targeted for parts since Jan. 31.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Troy Morgan at 801-852-7292.
