A one-vehicle accident on a downtown Salt Lake City Interstate 15 off ramp sent the driver to the hospital Saturday afternoon.

The Utah Highway Patrol said the woman was alone in the car at 1:42 p.m. when it crashed into the ramp's wall, and on impact the driver's side car door popped open and the woman fell onto the pavement. She sustained bumps, bruises and road rash injuries.

UHP Trooper Mary Kay Lucas said the woman, initially reported in critical condition, actually was conscious and talking at the scene. She was transported to the hospital for a precautionary examination.

No citations were issued and the cause of the crash remained under investigation.

Traffic through the area was restricted to one lane while the wreckage was cleared.
