Three fast-food restaurants robbed; police search under way

Police are searching for a man in connection with three robberies in two hours Wednesday night at fast-food restaurants in Salt Lake County.

The first occurred about 7:30 p.m. at Wendy's on 10655 South and AutoMall Drive in Sandy. A man in his mid-20s gave a note to the clerk, demanding money, said Sandy police Lt. Jeff Duvall.

An hour later, a man who matched the Sandy robber's description went into a Subway Sandwich Shop at 4900 South and State Street in Murray. He again produced a note claiming that he had a gun, but he did not show one, said Murray police Sgt. Ross Huff.

At 9:30 p.m., a man matching the same description gave a similar note to a clerk at Kentucky Fried Chicken at 6890 S. 2000 East in Cottonwood Heights, said Cottonwood Heights police Sgt. Gary Young. He fled on foot, but investigators believe he may be driving a black, 4-door car, Young said.

The man was described as white, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, with a thin build and a goatee. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie — in one description, the hoodie was brown and in another it had a Vans brand insignia on it — and blue jeans. In Cottonwood Heights, he was reported to be wearing gloves. His age was estimated between 20 and 40.
