A box of cremated remains found in an Ogden rental home has been returned to the family of the deceased.
The ashes were left behind at a home in the 2100 block of Tyler Street, in a plastic bag packaged inside a wooden box, police said.
A landlord found the box on March 3 as he cleaned the home to make way for a new tenant. The ashes were apparently the remains of a transient man's wife. He had asked the previous resident to store the box, along with some other items, but by the time he moved out the resident couldn't remember the man's name.
Word of the remains reached the woman's family, who now lives in Arizona, and a daughter came to retrieve the ashes last week, said Odgen Police Lt. Danielle Croyle.
