RSL's man in black has favorite color left out of his uniform choices

If you watched Real Salt Lake's season-opener, you saw goalkeeper Nick Rimando … and not just because he was flying around the penalty box trying to keep the ball out of the net.It was that uniform.Bright orange, head to toe. Almost neon. Made the man who usually prefers an intimidating black look like a giant traffic cone, plugged into an electrical outlet for good measure. Even the Houston Dynamo thought it was too bright.Predictably, Rimando was not amused."I hate it," he said after helping RSL beat the Los Angeles Galaxy. "Terrible."As part of the league's apparel agreement with adidas, team officials said Rimando must choose his game uniform from a selection of six colors in the company's "palette" for the season. But this year, black is not among the choices, leaving Rimando to post on his Facebook page that he was "gutted" that he cannot wear black anymore, now that "adidas has taken it away."Rimando needed only a few moments after the opener to shed his jersey and give it away, leaving him looking like only half an orange."I figure if I keep on giving them away, I won't have to wear them any more," he said.
