A woman tried to strangle herself with her thong underwear in a Weber County jail cell after being arrested on suspicion of stealing a wallet from a bar patron on St. Patrick's Day.

Deputies went to The Outlaw Saloon in West Haven because of two unrelated fights, and bouncers brought out a woman who allegedly was pickpocketing customers, officers wrote in a statement released Tuesday..

When bouncers had asked her about a man's stolen wallet, she allegedly threw down her purse, pulled her sundress over her head and twirled around, officers wrote. While twirling, she tried to toss the wallet in a trash can, police wrote. Bouncers were not distracted by the display and noticed the wallet being thrown away.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of theft and on outstanding warrants for shoplifting, officers wrote.

During the drive to the jail, the woman told deputies she would kill herself if she went to jail. While paperwork was being processed, the woman was placed in a holding cell, where she wrapped her thong underwear around her neck and tried to strangle herself.
