Sacramento, Calif. — Excerpts from an interview Thursday with Kings guard Jimmer FredetteFredette on how his situation with Sacramento has evolved since the Kings beat Utah on Feb. 28: It's getting better. I feel like I'm learning more and getting better. Now, it's just a matter of how many minutes you play when you get out there. As soon as you get out there, you just play the best you can and be aggressive. But I feel like I'm figuring it out pretty well. How much he'll be helped by having a full Summer League and training camp next season: It'll definitely help to do that to get some more minutes in against good competition and just kind of feel more comfortable with the system and what coach is trying to do and all that different stuff. I think it'll definitely help. I'm excited to see how it happens.Kings' recent improvement: Yeah, it's all a process. It's something that coach has talked about how we want to be a really top-tier team in three years, and it's all a process. So right now we want to continue to work as hard as we can to play as well as we can out there and play our style of basketball. And obviously we want to win. But most importantly we're just trying to get better as a team every single day. It's a young group. And we feel like if we keep building like this we're going be a very good team, so that's what it's all about. His defense: It's something that I continue to get better at. You get more used to it, just like in college. When you play against the competition more and more, you can see how you can use your angles to cut people off and where your help's going to be coming from and better with the terminology and stuff. It's getting a lot better. I think people were a lot more impressed than they thought they would be with my defense. And that's something I told them I could do and I'm trying to prove to them that I can do.Main item that's helped his defense: Just the angles and where to send them to and to your help; just having trust in your teammates that they're going to be there when you do send them to the help. But you've got to know the personnel really well. And I think that if you know the personnel really well you can try and play them to their weaknesses. And that's something that I try to focus on and try to do.Evolving relationship with coach Keith Smart: Yeah, yeah. It's been great. Just continue to have a great relationship with him and he kind of tells you where you're at and what he wants you to work on and what he wants you to do when you're out there. It's good to have a coach that can talk to you about that kind of stuff. We're continuing to grow. And I look forward to seeing what the future beholds and hopefully we both have the same vision — I think we both do — going forward that I can be a great player and be a great asset to this team.Enjoying his time in the NBA: Yeah, it's been a lot of fun. Great camaraderie with the guys and great times out here; playing some pretty good basketball right now. So getting used to it and getting more comfortable with it and it's getting a lot better.
