Thursday on TV: Comey hearing is all over broadcast and cable TV

For those of us old enough to remember when the Watergate hearings were all over TV, there's a bit of an echo of that on Thursday morning.

Former FBI director James Comey is testifying before Congress, and he's expected to talk about Donald Trump's efforts to influence — maybe obstruct — the FBI investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. It's big news, which is why it will not only air live (8 a.m., MT) on cable news channels CNN, Fox News and MSNBC — which didn't exist until well after the Watergate hearings — but the Big Three broadcast networks as well.

ABC/Ch. 4, CBS/Ch. 2 and NBC/Ch. 5 will all pre-empt regular programming to carry the hearing.

The Fox broadcast network is not joining the crowd, but Utah's Fox affiliate, KSTU-Ch. 13, is planning to carry at least some of the hearing beginning at 8 a.m.
