In 2006, documentarian Chris Paine explored the promising rise and suspiciously fast fall of the EV1, General Motors' first mass-marketed electric car, in the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

Paine's follow-up film, "Revenge of the Electric Car," finds new hope in electric-powered automotive technology, as he follows four companies competing to bring their alternative-fuel cars — including the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf — to the market.

"Revenge of the Electric Car" will be screened Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at the City Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City.

The screening, presented by the Utah Film Center and the Nature Conservancy, is free to the public.
