Salt Lake City police Tuesday were looking for a man who robbed a gas station convenience store.

Police said a 52-year-old clerk was working about 5:55 a.m. Monday at the Shell Food Mart, located at 2280 S. Highland Drive, when he was approached by the robber.

Officers said the man lifted the front of his coat, indicated he had a gun and asked for money from the till.

The robber took a small amount of cash, cigarettes and some food items before fleeing on foot, police said. He was last seen heading west toward Fairmont Park.

Police said the robber was a white man in his mid-20s about 5-foot-7, with a medium build. He was wearing a gray jacket, a black beanie, Levi's and white sneakers.
