Here are two upcoming events with symphony orchestras:

The West Jordan Symphony with Music Director Larry White will perform a "Spring Concert" concert at the West Jordan Senior Center, 8025 S 2200 West, on Saturday April 28 at 7:30 pm.The symphony will feature an original piano composition, "Faerie Fantasy," by Christopher J. Madsen, which took first Place in the Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA) Composition Competition.

The symphony will also perform "Lord of the Dance" with Laura and Ethan Garff from the Rinceoiri Don Spraoi Irish Dancers, "Russian Easter Overture" by Rimsky-Korsakov, "Die Meistersinger" by Wagner, a piece called "A Salute to the Big Bands," and selections from "Les Miserables."

The West Jordan Symphony, founded in 1984, is an all-volunteer orchestra of nearly 50 musicians. They are always looking for new members.Admission is free.

The Wasatch Community Symphony Orchestra with Music Director Theodore Zalkind will perform an "Evening of Romantic Music." The performance will be held at the All Saints Episcopal Church at 1710 S Foothill Blvd. in Salt Lake City on Sunday May 6 at 7 p.m.The pops concert will featured (lower-case R) romantic music from the films "Beauty and the Beast," "Titanic," "My Fair Lady," and "Somewhere in Time."The Wasatch Community Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1953, is an all-volunteer orchestra. Admission is free.
