Utah Jazz: Millsap hurt wrist against Rockets; visits doctor

Houston • Jazz starting power forward Paul Millsap didn't attend practice Thursday at the Downtown Club.

While Utah followed up a strong 103-91 victory against the Rockets on Wednesday, Millsap and Jazz trainer Gary Briggs visited a local doctor.

The Utah forward hurt his right wrist by falling "funny" during the second half against Houston, Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said, and played through the injury.

Pain kicked in postgame, though, and Millsap told the team his wrist needed to be examined.

Corbin said the Jazz aren't sure about the extent of Millsap's injury, and Utah won't know more until he meets with the doctor.

"[Millsap] just called and said he was in pain [Wednesday] night and Briggsy took him over," Corbin said.

He added: "[Millsap's] not one to look for a way out. He must be really hurt. So we just hope it's something temporary."

The Jazz only had 10 active players against Houston.

Utah forward Jeremy Evans (sprained right ankle) didn't play against the Rockets and won't practice Thursday. He's a game-time decision Friday at New Orleans.

The Jazz are in ninth place in the Western Conference with seven games to go. Utah's 1.5 games behind Dallas, Houston and Denver, who are tied for sixth.

The Jazz's Josh Howard, Raja Bell, C.J. Miles and Earl Watson are already out with injuries.
