Beginning Thursday, April 19, Southern Utah University will celebrate our ultimate Big Mamma with events ranging from an art exhibition showcasing the Dixie National Forest to a screening of a documentary about a Big Daddy of tree hugging.
The highlight of the Earth Day festivities is "Into the Woods: A Painted Diary of Dixie National Forest" by Arlene Braithwaite, who was commissioned by the Forest Service to depict four breathtaking landscapes within the forest.
Screenings of "Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time" are on Thursday at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Earth Day Fair is on Friday, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.
Students in the Outdoor Recreation in the Parks and Tourism Program will be guide hikers into the Dixie Forest on Saturday, 10 a.m. Call 435-865-8704 for additional information.
