Green River's lost canyons

Along with a late breakfast and coffee all day long, the Marriott Library's "Books and Authors" series of talks are a great way to spend your Sunday. Free of cost, no less.

This coming Sunday's event features a talk on the vast canyon beauty lost to the Colorado River Storage Project and its Flaming Gorge Dam, completed in 1963. Roy Webb, an avid river rat, long felt that Flaming Gorge never received due attention on par with the Glen Canyon Dam. In his new book Lost Canyons of the Green River, Webb has worked hard to change all that. Through meticulous research and historic prose, Webb's book takes the reader back to all that was lost, even if the many fishers and boaters who now use Flaming Gorge Reservoir may choose to forget. His book operates as a history of the Colorado River system.

Spend some time with Webb this coming Sunday, and you'll come away with rare knowledge of a unique Utah wilderness story.
