A Davis County-based team of under-16 boys basketball players made it to the championship game of the Las Vegas Pangos Spring Spectacular last weekend before falling to the No. 9-ranked AAU team in the country. The Utah Hoops went undefeated in pool play before ultimately losing in the finals 68-61 to the Las Vegas Prospects. The Utah Hoops team is comprised of Bountiful's Trevor Lloyd, Zac Seljaas, Sam Merrill, Pere Le Sueur and Jordan Bleak, Davis' Able Porter, Roy's Brekkott Chapman, Layton's Michael Hibbert and Luke Jowers of Woods Cross. The AAU basketball season is upon us the next few weeks, then picks up again for most of July. If your favorite club team did something extraordinary at a tournament, send us the results and the names of all the players on the team, and we will try to give them a mention on this recruiting blog. The spring signing period continues, and recently Southern Utah University announced it has signed three incoming freshmen to its women's soccer program, including one Utahn. Skyline High's Rachel Wright of Salt Lake City has signed with new head coach Becky Hogan's program, along with Kaleigh Bosen of Peoria, Ariz., and Nancy Brich of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. A midfielder, Wright helped Skyline to an appearance in the 4A state championship game last season. She played for the Utah Avalance '94 White club team for seven years. The three newest Thunderbirds will join previous signees Emma Pasley, Sydney Cook, Madison Wood and Mackenzie Moreno on the Southern Utah team that will open its first season in the Big Sky Conference later this fall.
