Tuesday on TV: "The L.A. Complex" debuts on The CW; President Obama visits Jimmy Fallon

The L.A. Complex (8 p.m., CW/Ch. 30) is sort of the Canadian version of "Melrose Place." Set in Los Angeles. Really.

It's a Canadian production (which aired in The Great White North earlier this year) about a group of show biz wannabes who live in the same apartment complex, dream big dreams and sleep with each other.

It's all very soapy. But there's nothing wrong with a good soap opera. And this shows promise of being a decent soap opera.

Also tonight, President Obama makes his first appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (11:35 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5).

Fallon won't be in his home studio in New York City - the episode is being taped on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Cougar Town (7:30 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Laurie's business is doing surprisingly well.

Dancing with the Stars (8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Another pair is eliminated.

The Voice (8 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): Contestants face elimination.

Frontline (8 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7): A report on the events that led to the largest government bailout in American history.

New Girl (8 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13): Jess worries that Russell doesn't love her as much as he loved his ex-wife.

NBA (8:30 p.m., TNT): It's a big game for the Utah Jazz. If they beat the Phoenix Suns, they clinch a spot in the NBA playoffs.

Private of Practice (9:01 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Pete and Violet see a marriage counselor.

Deadliest Catch (10 and 11 p.m., Discovery): The Time Bandit bids farewell to a crewmate.
