National Barbecue Tour stops in Salt Lake

The Sam's Club National Barbecue Tour will be make a stop in Salt Lake City on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.

During the competition, 30 barbecue teams from several western states — including R&R Barbecue and Hoochie Que from Utah — will be competing for $10,000 in prize money. The top six teams will then advance to the regional competition to be held in Albuquerque, N.M., on May 12.

Teams will be setting up their smokers Friday and cooking throughout the night.

Fans can sample some of finished 'cue on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the at the Sam's Club at 1905 S. 300 West, in Salt Lake City.

There also will be a cooking demonstration for the public at 1 p.m. on the event stage.

An awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled around 4 p.m.
