How good is Lone Peak guard Nick Emery, the rising senior who has committed to BYU basketball? The Tribune reported Sunday that USU will join the Mountain West Conference within the next week or two, along with San Jose State. BYU is also in the WAC — sort of. The Cougars' softball team is in the WAC as it awaits the WCC to get enough softball-playing members to begin sponsoring the sport itself. Monday, BYU's Delaney Willard was named the Verizon WAC Hitter of the Week. It's the third honor of the season for Willard. The senior right fielder from Camarillo, Calif., hit .444 with two doubles, a triple and a home run and drove in 12 runs as the Cougars went 5-0 last week.
