The Salt Lake Film Society's Open Screen Night returns, with the first chance in 2012 for local filmmakers to show off their short films, on Wednesday, May 2, at the Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South, Salt Lake City.

It's free to attend and watch, starting at 9 p.m. Audience members get to vote for their favorites, and a local movie critic will also be there to rate the best films.

If you're a local filmmaker wanting your work shown, you must submit your film (on DVD, preferably without a menu) by 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Tower. There's a $5 submission fee. Go to saltlakefilmsociety.org for details.
