Wednesday on TV: Real Salt Lake game tape delayed — for "America's Next Top Model"?!?!?

KUCW-Ch. 30 is tape delaying tonight's Real Salt Lake at Chicago Fire game, which actually begins at 6:30 p.m. MT, until 9 p.m. Because of an episode of America's Next Top Model at 8 p.m.

I'm trying not to react to this simply because I am an RSL fan and no fan of "Top Model." But this seems, well, rather stupid.

I got it when Ch. 30 tape-delayed the April 4 game because of "One Tree Hill," another show that I couldn't have cared less about. It was, after all, the two-hour series finale. And the few fans of the show that are out there deserved to see how it ended.

But tonight, we're talking about just another episode of "Top Model." It's not the season finale. The finale doesn't air until May 30.

If I wanted to be mean, I'd just print The CW's description of tonight's original episode, which follows a repeat:

The models are challenged with having to learn a fight sequence and act in a scene with Nicholas Tse, international actor and pop star. The pressure is on as the women have to pose while harnessed atop a high rise tower in extreme rain and wind.

Wow.

And it's not 1972. The few fans of "Top Model" that are out there have options. They could stay up and watch it if it was delayed. They could record it. They could go online and watch it.

It's not like "America's Next Top Model" is airing live, like, say, the soccer game. It was taped months ago.

Clearly, there are times when a network affiliate that airs local sports is going to have to make decisions on what to delay. And, sometimes, the right decision is to delay the game.

This isn't one of those times.
