Warm, sunny day expected across Utah

Monday was shaping up to be a sunny and warm day across the state.

In northern Utah, temperatures were expected to top out in the mid-80s. In southern Utah, temperatures were expected to reach the 90s.

However, that sunny weather was expected to disappear — temporarily — come Tuesday in northern Utah as the National Weather Service was predicting a 20 percent change of thunderstorms all day.

The weather service also said starting Tuesday, winds were expected to strengthen across western and southern Utah. The winds combined with low humidity were expected to cause critical fire dangers across western and southern Utah.

A hazardous weather outlook was also in place for the majority of the state Monday as officials cautioned that residents should keep children and pets away from area waterways because they're cold, swift and dangerous.

Utah's air quality was expected to be moderate Monday.
