West Jordan police identify woman killed in Sunday crash

West Jordan police Monday identified a 30-year-old woman killed the day before in a two-vehicle crash on Bangerter Highway.

Police said Tanya Cordova died Sunday morning after the driver of a northbound SUV on Bangerter Highway lost control near 7900 South. The SUV broadsided her southbound passenger car, which was stopped at a temporary traffic light set up in the construction zone so motorists can complete U-turns.

Cordova, who was driving the passenger car, was initially reported to be 29 years old, police said. A passenger in the SUV was ejected, officers said.

All four people inside the SUV — ranging in age from 22 to 34 — were taken to area hospitals. Police said Monday that medical personnel believed everyone in the SUV was expected to recover.

Police were investigating what caused the driver of the SUV to lose control.
