Utah men's basketball staff member Randy Baruth was hired Thursday as the head coach at Division II Saginaw Valley State College.
Baruth, 34, served as the Utes' director of player development and camps for one season under Larry Krystkowiak. He previously coached at Colorado State, Northern State and North Dakota State. SVSU will be his first head coaching job.
The Cardinals play in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
"Coach Baruth is a relentless worker with a good basketball mind," Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak said in a statement. "He is very organized and detail oriented. We wish him well as he takes on this new challenge."
