A 12-year-old boy and his 6-year-old brother remained hospitalized in serious condition Friday, the day after they were struck by a car on a Payson street.

Payson police Lt. Bill Wright said the boys initially had been taken to Mountain View Hospital, but were later flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

The 12-year-old boy was riding his bicycle with his younger brother standing on the foot pegs on the back of the bike when the accident occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday near 1400 South and 930 West.

Wright said the boys were turning left from 1400 South onto 930 West when a full-size, northbound SUV struck them.

Police were investigating whether the boys may have run a stop sign just prior to the accident.

The SUV appeared to be traveling at the posted speed limit at the time of the crash, police said.
