Utah forecast: G'bye rain, hello hot, then hotter weather

Enjoy that late-week cooling trend, Utah? Well, lock away those breezy, balmy memories because its going to get hot.

Under sunny skies, northern Utahns looked for temperatures Sunday in the low-80s, decidedly warmer than Saturday's forecast for highs hovering around 70 degrees. Monday's thermometer readings will rise to a toasty 90-degree range, according to the National Weather Service.

And if it's warming up along the Wasatch Front, it's definitely tank tops, shorts and sandals kind of weather in southern Utah. Utah's Dixie expected highs in the mid-90s Sunday, a rise from Saturday's upper-80s. Monday will see the mercury climb into the upper-90s and low-100s — all under mostly clear, sunny skies.

So, as you slap on that broad-brimmed hat, slather on the sunblock lotion and pack that bottle of water with you outside, at least you'll be able to breathe deeply. The Utah Division of Environmental Quality has issued a "Green" or good air quality rating for all sectors of the state through the weekend and into Monday.

Salt Lake City's Sunday high was to hit 80, up 10 degrees from Saturday's forecast mark, while Monday's reading was to soar to a high of 90 degrees; Ogden looked for 79, 67 and 89 degrees, respectively; Provo 82, 71 and 89; Logan 77, 67 and 86; Wendover 82, 73 and 91; Duchesne 78, 70 and 83; Cedar City 84, 74 and 87; St. George 95, 87 and 99; and Moab 86, 78 and 93 degrees.
