A winner will be declared in the season finale of American Idol (7 p.m., Fox/Ch.13).
Will it be Phillip Phillips? Will it be Jessica Sanchez?
The one thing we know for certain is that "American Idol" is not the sensation it once was. Yes, it's still one of the most-watched shows on television, although it slipped to No. 2 behind NBC's "Sunday Night Football" this season.
And, yes, it won its timeslot on Tuesday.
But this is a show that used to regularly draw 25-30 million viewers. Tuesday's episode attracted a bit more than 14 million.
That's great for a network TV show in 2012. But "Idol" has fallen back much closer to the rest of the pack.
