Utah County students make waves with 'Tetris' trailer [video]

Remember this name: Warialasky.

It's the shared name of a trio of Utah County filmmakers who are making a splash with their comic videos on YouTube. (Here's the channel.)

The latest, posted Thursday, is a trailer for a movie that hasn't been made yet: "Tetris."

"If Battleship gets its own movie, why not Tetris?" the filmmakers write in explanation of their video, which employs all the action-movie cliches as well as some impressive special effects (including dropping a T-shaped block on top of Salt Lake City's KeyBank building).

In the first 24 hours, the "Tetris" trailer has already received 52,000 hits.

The trailer has already gained at least one rave review. "We really hope this trailer for 'Tetris' inspires some Hollywood executive to give Warialasky, the team behind the comedy spot, a few hundred million dollars. This movie looks amazing," writes The Huffington Post.

"We spent five days just not sleeping," Landon Sperry told the Cricket today. Sperry, 27; his brother Casen, 25; and their childhood friend Mike Brown, 24, are the three men behind Warialasky.

The trio came up with the idea a while back, but "we waited until the semester ended, so we could do a good job of it," Sperry said. (The Sperrys both attend Brigham Young University, while Brown is a student at Utah Valley University.)

They aren't famous in Utah, yet. "Not a lot of people know we're here. We've started to develop a little bit of a following" in other places, Sperry said, but not in Utah.
