It will be hot going into the weekend, but thunderstorms and rain should offer some relief late Saturday and least along the Wasatch Front.
While temperatures will climb into the low-90s in northern Utah Saturday, up a few degrees from Friday's toasty high-80s, southern Utahns could expect no such relief. In Utah's Dixie, the mercury was to climb into triple digits on Saturday, matching Friday's broiling forecast.
With the exception of southwestern Utah's Washington County, which rated a "Yellow," or compromised air quality grade, air quality statewide was in the "Green," or healthy going into the weekend, according to the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.
Salt Lake City looked for a high of 91 Saturday, up from Friday's forecast for 87 degrees; Ogden was to hit 89 and 85, respectively; Provo 91 and 88; Logan 86 and 82; Wendover 93 and 87; Duchesne 86 and 84; Cedar City 88 and 90; St. George 101 and 103; and Moab 97 and 94 degrees.
