Green River Fishing Report for June 1 from Ryan Kelly, guide with Flaming Gorge Resort
Flows: About 2200 decreasing for a couple more days down to 1500.
Fishing this past week was on the lower end of what I would call good fishing. Whenever the water is dropping the fish are uncomfortable and eat a little less. There is less food in the drift as well when the water is on the decline. That being said we still caught some great fish and had some great moments. We had pockets of great cicada fishing, some good streamer moments and some Big Scuds, around a size 10, in the water. Big scuds create big fish probably faster that any other food source in the river. With some warmer temps the last few days more cicadas have been clicking away. They are on the move looking for mates. That means more of them end up in the water as they try to clumsily cross the river in search of love. With stable flows coming this week and more sunshine it could be a good to great cicada week.
Photos this week include fellow Utah resident Del Nawyn with a 21" Bow and Satoshi all the way from Japan with a 20" Brown on a cicada in high water.
Good times and dancing lines, Ryan
