Salt Lake City nanny booked on child abuse charges

A 31-year-old Salt Lake City nanny has been booked into the Summit County Jail after a five-month investigation linked her with bruises and bone fractures on 2-month-old twins at Primary Children's Medical Center in January.

Aubrey Alta Anderson, who advertised herself as an infant child care specialist and certified nurse's assistant, placed advertisements on several nanny websites and worked around the world as well as Utah, the Summit County Sheriff's Office said in a Friday news release.

During the investigation, sheriff's detectives learned Anderson also was being investigated by authorities in Belgium after she allegedly fled the country when two twins she cared for were discovered to have multiple bone fractures, the release said. Detective Sgt. Ron Bridge said he couldn't comment further on that investigation.

Clayton Simms, Anderson's attorney, said there is no evidence linking her to the twins' injuries and said up to four people, including another nanny and the parents, could be at fault.

"It's our position that she is absolutely innocent," Simms said.

Anderson was booked on suspicion of two counts of felony child abuse and one count of misdemeanor child abuse, according to the release.
