Ballet • Utah-born dancers Robert and Megan Fairchild will perform a benefit for their former teacher.

This isn't the first time New York City Ballet principal dancers Robert and Megan Fairchild, siblings from Utah, have performed together.

But the one-night-only performance in Draper is the first time the Fairchilds have performed in their home state since becoming two of the most recognized dancers in the world.

As a bonus, Megan's husband, Andrew Veyette, and Robert's girlfriend, Tiler Peck — also NYCB principals — will be performing with them.

The foursome are traveling to Utah to perform and teach a weeklong summer ballet camp. The two couples will perform a unique tag-team version of the Black Swan/White Swan pas de deux from "Swan Lake," as well as two of Balanchine's most famous pas de deux (rights to which The Balanchine Trust has donated). The professional dancers are donating their time for the performance and will be sharing the stage with students from two local studios.

"It is a dream come true for our community and for the dance students," Kaelynne Oliphant said.

Oliphant is the ballet ensemble director at Utah Dance Artists in South Jordan and was one of the Fairchilds' first and most influential teachers. She arranged the performance in conjunction with the city of Draper and the Utah Dance Artists.

"Megan and Robbie are just excited to be home," Oliphant said. "Their international and national travel schedule this summer is mind-boggling, so for them to come here for five days is just so generous."

Students from UDA and American Expression of Dance will also be on the program, performing ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and lyrical pieces. —

Summer dance camp

Classes will be taught by New York City Ballet dancers Robert Fairchild, Megan Fairchild, Andrew Veyette and Tiler Peck.

Where • Utah Dance Artists, 11021 S. Redwood Road, South Jordan

First day • Acting for dancers, Saturday, June 23, from 4:30-7 p.m. by Robert Fairchild and Tiler Peck, at the Draper Amphitheater, 944 E. Vestry Road, Draper; Megan Fairchild and Andrew Veyette will join them for the last hour for a Q & A about the life of professional dancer, and dancing Balanchine choreography.

Workshop • The camp resumes Tuesday, June 26, and runs through Friday, June 29.

Instruction • Technique variations and character, with guest instructors Jackie Russo, Juliana Vorkink and Kaelynne Oliphant, resident ballet ensemble director at Utah Dance Artists. Friday will feature a demonstration/performance.

Advanced, Intermediate • Students will dance 1-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, and 4-7 p.m. Friday.

Junior • Fourth-sixth-grade dancers will dance from 3:30-7 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, and 4-7 p.m. Thursday-Friday.
