Green River Fishing Report - Variety is the spice of life, but it can make selecting a fly pattern tough

Green River Report for June 14th, 2012Flow is around 1500 during the day. Fishing continues to be good if you are a fan of nymph fishing. The dry fly fishing has never turned on as most of us on the river have expected. I have seen a lot of different bugs over the last week. There have been cicadas, crickets, golden stones, yellow sallies, caddis and PMDs. There is a lot of variety, but not enough of any one thing to get the fish excited on the top. The fish have been actively feeding subsurface on worms, scuds, stonefly nymphs, PMD nymphs and caddis pupa. This has made for some good times and some great fish. The health of the fish is the best we've seen in some time. Today was no exception as we landed and lost several fat fish 18 inches or longer. If you are waiting for the dries I am optimistic it will be soon as the numbers of insects continue to increase. I have spent the majority of my time lately on the B section and the upper part of C and the fish have not disappointed. Just as a note, the DWR stocked the river since I last posted. They only stocked about half as many as previous years. The vast majority were stocked on B and C sections. good times and dancing lines, Ryan
