Ann Romney backs Mia Love | The Salt Lake Tribune

Ann Romney, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, endorsed congressional candidate Mia Love on Friday, saying she can help provide opportunity for the nation's children.

"Mia's record of reducing spending and making government more accountable to the taxpayers should be an example for Washington," Ann Romney said in a statement. "With leaders like her, we can help ensure that our children and grandchildren have bright futures."

Ann Romney is the second member of the family to endorse Love. Mitt Romney's son, Josh Romney, endorsed Love at the Republican state convention, where she clinched the party's nomination in the 4th District race.

Mitt Romney has obvious popularity in the state, having captured 93 percent of the vote in Utah's presidential primary earlier this week.

Love said she is honored to have Ann Romney's backing.

"She understands the importance of fostering an environment for job creation and making government more responsible," Love said. "These are the same principles that I have fought for as mayor and as a councilwoman, and they are the same principles that I will bring to Washington."
