A vigil for Sierra Newbold, the 6-year-old girl who was murdered in West Jordan, will be held Friday at the elementary school the young girl attended.

The vigil is scheduled at 8:30 p.m. at West Jordan Elementary School, 7220 South 2370 West.

Police are continuing their investigation into the death and sexual assault of the young girl, whose body was found in a canal early Tuesday near her family's home about a half-hour after her mother reported her missing. Authorities have said they have no suspects in the crime.

Funeral services will be held for the girl Saturday at 11 a.m. at the West Jordan 27th Ward, 2666 W. 7000 South. A viewing will be held Friday evening as well, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
