Here's what's being talked about today in pop culture:

• Katie Holmes' divorce from Tom Cruise is beginning to cast a spotlight on the inner workings of the Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is a prominent figure. [The Daily Beast, The Hollywood Reporter]

• "The Amazing Spider-Man" scored $35 million on Tuesday, and is tracking toward a massive six-day weekend of around $150 million. [Entertainment Weekly]

• A Jimi Hendrix biopic, now being filmed in Ireland and starring Andre Benjamin (a k a Andre 3000), will not be using Hendrix's music because the guitarist's family did not approve the rights. (This article violates The Cricket's rule about not promising that your movie will screen at next year's Sundance Film Festival.) [RTE]
