Songs of the Weekend: Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel's most recent studio album of original material was "Up," released in 2002 — when I was still in the Coast Guard, before I entered the world of jounalism. He is one of my favorites, but it's frustrating that he releases albums at such a slow pace. Gabriel has put out some fine classical albums since then, but they don't compare to when he digs into the studio and comes up with songs so beautiful.

The following is "I Grieve," from "Up." I apologize for submitting such a sad song, as the weekend is upon us, but the deliberately paced track is a perfect example of his great sense of dynamics. Don't give up on the song before the five-minute mark.
