Hurricane • A memorial cross is being unveiled in honor of a Utah Highway Patrol trooper who died during a search and rescue accident last month.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say a ceremony honoring Aaron Beesley is set for 10 a.m. Monday. The cross will be on the property of honorary UHP Col. Don Ipson in Hurricane, alongside 14 other memorials to fallen troopers.
The 34-year-old Beesley lost his footing on Mount Olympus and fell 90 feet to his death during the rescue of two teenage hikers June 30.
The 13-year UHP veteran from Bear River City leaves behind a wife and three young sons.
