Ogden • An Ogden storage business and several vehicles were destroyed Monday afternoon after an explosion ignited a fire inside the building.

At about 1:10 p.m., a worker at C and G Global Inc., near 7th Street and Wall Avenue, walked outside to load a truck when he heard an explosion inside, Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said.

The building caught on fire and, when crews responded, multiple natural gas tanks inside also exploded, Bauman said.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to contain the blaze. The explosions propelled burning debris a block away, where it started another small fire.

"The building at this point looks like a total loss," Bauman said.

The fire also spread to the lawn of a home next door to the business, but was stopped before it damaged any structures.

No one was injured in the explosion or the fire.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.

Wall Avenue between 7th and 9th streets remained closed at 3 p.m., while crews continued to douse the now contained fire.
