Superkarts USA events to start Friday at MMP

Tooele • Auto racing's potential stars of the future will compete Friday through Sunday in the Superkarts USA SummerNationals at Miller Motorsports Park.

Superkarts USA is a national karting program that stages amateur and professional races across the United States. Its three-event pro tour includes the SpringNationals, held in Phoenix in April, this weekend's SummerNationals and the season-ending SuperNationals in Las Vegas in November.

The SummerNationals will attract kart teams from across the United States, as well as from Canada and Mexico. Approximately 200 entries are expected.

Entrants will compete in eight classes, including four for shifter karts, the fastest of which will exceed 100 mph on the Miller kart track. Competitors will range in age from nine to over 60.

Practice sessions begin on Friday. Qualifying and racing will be be held Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. The feature races will be held between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. Public kart rentals will be available after racing is concluded each day.

Admission is $10 for the weekend and $6 daily. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Military personnel are eligible for a 25 percent discount. Admission on Friday is free. Passes offering access to the Superkarts USA pit area are $25 for the weekend and $15 daily.
