Throughout the month of August, Tribune writers will taste our way through some of Utah's finest frozen confections including ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt and shave ice to help us beat the heat — while satisfying a sugar rush. Today's pick:

Jack Frost • Cool down and get a daily blast of caffeine with this addictive coffee drink. It's made with four shots of espresso, two shots of Ghirardelli chocolate, and half-and-half, that when blended thickens like ice cream. It's a drink that customers crave all year long.

Jack Mormon Coffee • 82 E St., Salt Lake City; 801-359-2979. Open Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Price • $4.75

Shop talk • Jack Mormon is primarily a coffee roasting shop that stocks unroasted beans and then roasts them while customers wait. But there's a small menu of other caffeine-laden drinks, including fresh-brewed coffee, espresso, latte or even Chai tea.
