If you've been in downtown Salt Lake City this week, you might have noticed the invasion of tanned, healthy-looking people downtown.
Those would be the vendors and dealers here for the annual Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, the trade show in the Salt Palace in which makers of outdoor gear (or anything that a manufacturer can sell as having a use outdoors) meet the buyers for retail outlets thus making the world go 'round.
The Cricket, not being the stout-hearted outdoorsy type, ventured into the Salt Palace to see some of the free-wheeling madness when you put together outdoor gear, motivated sellers, cautious buyers and free samples of energy bars.
