Parker Hausknecht is no longer with Utah State.

The former star at Alta High was slated to battle for a back-up job at linebacker, and this was thought to be his first year with real playing time.

But family obligations forced him to leave Utah State's football team, Gary Andersen said on Friday afternoon, following practice.

"Parker decided that football was not for him," Andersen said. "He's a terrific young man, a quality young man, and we wish him well in the future. He had a lot of things going on. He has a child, and sometimes there are things that draw young men away from the game."

Hausknecht, at the high school level, was one of the best linebackers in the state during his senior season with Alta. He was a first team all-state pick by The Tribune, and he had three season's of collegiate eligibility remaining.

Hausknecht, like Tavarreon Dickerson before him, will stay at Utah State as a student.
